Young elephants are known to put on quite a show and are a firm favorite among guests on safari. Protected by their watchful mothers, they mimic the actions of their elders which is their way of learning and developing their own individual personalities.

- Baby elephant’s bodies are covered in hair which reduces over time, as they age. These hairs aid in cooling down its body
- Elephants are very sensitive and caring. If a baby Elephant complains, the entire family will go over to soothe it
- Most baby elephants are born at night
- Baby elephants stay very close to their mothers for the first few months and drink their mother’s milk for about two years, sometimes longer
- A young elephant calf may suck its trunk to help it relax when it’s not feeding

Buffalo Camp is a quiet and intimate lodge where you can unwind in the shade of the trees and simply absorb the surrounding peace and wildlife.
Set among tall, shady trees, with a seasonal river below, Buffalo Camp’s suites are ultra-luxurious tents that consistently delight our guests. Dark wood and leather finishes add a nostalgic air, while oil lanterns illuminating the walkways at night create a wonderfully romantic ambience.
Each of the 10 Luxury Tents feature en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning, as well as heated blankets for cooler weather comfort. Tea and Nespresso coffee facilities come standard, along with a fully stocked minibar. For peace of mind, there’s a lock-up safe for your valuables, and for our guests from abroad, international plugs for convenience.
To cool off at Buffalo Camp, slip into the sleek, elevated rim-flow pool with views directly into the forest canopy. Meals are a la carte and are served under the traditional thatch for breakfast and lunch with dinners served in the open air boma.
KAPAMA KARULA LODGE *****
With its light, airy, open spaces and views from every angle, Karula is truly the pride of Kapama as our flagship lodge. Effortlessly elegant and stylish, Karula will steal the breath of even the most seasoned traveller.
Each of the ten Superior Villas measure at least 90m² each, with an opulent full en-suite bathroom featuring indoor and outdoor showers. Each Villa has a fully stocked minibar, Nespresso coffee machine, Wi-Fi and an iPod docking station. Each Villa also has its own deck area, with a full-size heated swimming pool with views onto the Klaserie River. Two of the Villas are purpose-built for families with a second bedroom which is also en-suite and is equipped with a flat-screen TV, selection of movies and a Wii game console.
After a day out in the wild, there’s nothing more welcome than a pampering treatment in our luxurious spa or relax in the steam room, ice bath or therapy pool. But if you’re in need of something more energetic, our state-of-the-art fitness centre may be just for you.
KAPAMA RIVER LODGE *****
The largest of our camps, River Lodge’s wide, open spaces and airy design are a constant reminder that you’re sleeping under the African sky. River Lodge is more festive and social than our smaller, quieter camps, which is why young couples and groups of friends are often among our guests.
The lodge offers three types of accommodation options in spacious rooms, each featuring full en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar fridge and climate control air conditioners.
Between invigorating dawn and evening safaris, relax next to the sparkling rim flow pool or for something more indulgent, make your way to the new 12m x 12m pool & cocktail bar.
Considered one of the finest safari spas in Africa, the River Lodge Spa is a firm favourite with all our guests. Lounge by the spa pool or get a quick workout in before you hand yourself over to our highly trained and experienced beauty therapists for one of our distinctly African treatments.
KAPAMA SOUTHERN CAMP *****
The charm and hospitality of Southern Camp staff make it a warm and inviting place for families looking for the ultimate African safari. Southern Camp offers five-star luxury accommodation, warm hospitality and friendly service in a tranquil setting that will be savoured by even the most discerning nature lover.
All 15 Suites at Southern Camp have full en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars and tea and coffee stations are standard in all Suites. Private patios offer the opportunity to enjoy relaxing sundowners.
The 10 Villas have their own private lap pool, inside and outside showers, large minibar, espresso machines. 3 of the Villas have been designed with families in mind with a second connecting bedroom for the children with its own bath, shower, double vanity and outside patio.
An ideal place to relax with a good book, or soak up the surrounding scenery, the lounge and pool deck are excellent vantage spots from which to game view too. Meals are enjoyed in either the tastefully decorated dining room or in the traditional outdoor boma.
